About Your Guide, Bob
I’m a self-employed Property Partner working with Laurels in Southsea and Portsmouth, UK.
I offer a personal, one-to-one service, remaining directly involved throughout the sale rather than passing homeowners between different departments. Laurels provides professional marketing, major property portals and independent professional photography.
My speciality is helping homes that have been on the market for a long time or have struggled to attract the right buyer. I also help people selling for the first time who want honest guidance from the beginning.
More Than Property
My background includes business, barbering and sculpture whilst living in several countries over the years. Working closely with people taught me to listen, while creating art taught me to look beyond the surface and find practical solutions. Some of my sculptures have received first prizes in Cypriot and Australian art competitions.
Every property and every seller is different.
My approach is to examine the evidence, understand what may be holding a sale back and recommend sensible changes without making exaggerated promises.
Why I Created HUMPY GUIDE
“Humpy” comes from the Aboriginal Yagara language of the Brisbane region and refers to a shelter or dwelling. “Guide” has roots in Old French, meaning to lead or direct. Together, they capture the idea behind this blog: honest, practical advice to help you find your way in property.
I wanted to give something back. I believe useful knowledge should be shared freely.
The blog offers clear, practical information about pricing, presentation, marketing, buyer behaviour and the changing ways we build and live in our homes. Its purpose is to help people understand their options and make better-informed decisions—not to pressure them.
Whether you are selling for the first time or your home has been on the market longer than expected, I’m always happy to have an honest, no-pressure conversation.
